The 2016 Great Texas Warrant Round-Up began March 5, and Houston’s Municipal Courts Department and Houston Police Department have announced their participation.
During the yearly law enforcement campaign, HPD and other law enforcement agencies across the state will search for those in the state with outstanding warrants. Arrests may take place at home, work or school, according to authorities. About 300 jurisdictions in the state will participate, including Harris, Galveston, Fort Bend, Brazoria, Nueces, Waller and Wichita counties.
“Participating in the statewide WRU program simultaneously with other jurisdictions helps bring about greater public awareness, which will hopefully encourage people to resolve their case or cases before they are arrested,” said Director and Presiding Judge Barbara E. Hartle.
In Houston, there were an average of 300,000 warrants in the court systems during January. To find out if you have an outstanding warrant, visit www.jp.hctx.net.
